Koenigsegg Regera Battery Pack by RIMAC

koenigsegg-battery-v2.jpg

The Koenigsegg Regera is a Hybrid Hypercar with a lot of specificities such as 3D printed part (the turbo housing VGT for example), the fact that it has virtually no gearbox (Koenigsegg Direct Drive) or that it combines a powerful 5L twin-turbo V8 with 3 electric motors ⚡️ for an insane total of more than 1500 hp of power

Let’s focus on the Battery pack 🔋 which is absolutely fascinating and very unique:

  • Made by RIMAC 🇭🇷

  • It is one of the only commercial vehicle with a Battery cooled by immersion (see OROVEL Battery Card EV11)

  • 4.5 kWh Battery Pack made of 6 modules with 64 cells (384 cells)

  • Cells are 26700 Cylindrical but with a very unique chemistry

  • 800 V

  • The Battery is able to deliver 500 kW of power (for a total Battery pack, liquid fluid included, of about 70 kg) which is really insane

  • The Battery external housing is made of Carbon fibre

  • You will notice that the Battery is designed entirely for high power density (boosting power) but results in a relatively low energy density

  • The packaging is not the now usual floor-flat skateboard 🛹 but is instead a long tunnel in the Center of the car
