The new Volkswagen 1.0L 3-Cyl Engine EA211 TSI evo that will power some of gen8 #Golf contains an amazing list of technologies for a very-large production-Engine (>1million / year in 🇪🇺)

#VW has thought it modular and flexible so it can be adapted for the next couple of years while maintaining cost production low waiting for EV 🔌 ramp-up

The EA211 1.0 TSI evo gets:

1- 48V ⚡️system mild-#Hybrid in P0 config with (2)

2- Lithium-ion #battery 🔋ables to recover energy when braking and to power (3)

3- Electrified ⚡️belt-driven starter generator

4- 48V mHEV supports the ICE in low-efficient areas such as transients 📈 or low-speed (extra-boost ⏭)

5- Piston with cooling channel for oil cooling controlled by (6)

6- Specific oil map-controlled 

7- VGT TurboCharger 🧿 enabled by (8)

8- Miller-cycle Combustion 💥

9- Piston-coated with layer of lacquer developed to match (10)

10- APS-coated cylinder barrels (Atmospheric-Plasma Spray)

11- Specific tandem oil sump = sliding-vane pump + mechanical vacuum pump

12- Thermal management 🌡 with mechatronic coolant pump regulator ❄️

13- complete redesigned 2-piece water-jacket 💦 (to dampen knocking)

14- coated close-coupled GPF with 4-way function for Euro6d ♻️

The EA211 mild HEV should save 1L/100 km of Fuel ⛽️ compared to its predecessor
